On planes and at the airport, they urge passengers in particular to put themselves in the shoes of boarding and flight attendants, from the flight attendant to the pilot. Among the things you should definitely not do on planes, the one that perhaps seems the most logical – and yet the least respected – is in fact a simple question of hygiene. According to Stefán Dór Arnarsson, a pilot at PLAY, an Icelandic airline, “many passengers naturally take off their shoes when seated for comfort during the flight.” And according to him, staying in socks on the plane is perfectly permissible. But he urges passengers to remember one thing: “Never go to the bathroom without putting your shoes back on”!
The pilot makes this a golden rule for himself, as he told Huffpost: “I always make sure I wear shoes when I use the restroom.” An obvious fact that too many passengers forget or completely neglect, according to him. “I would never go to the bathroom barefoot,” said Michelle Gooris, a charter airline pilot who blogs under the name Dutch Pilot Girl and is surprised that the habit is so widespread in flight.
For what ? The answer is simple: in an airplane toilet, like anywhere else on the plane, the floor can be soaked with water, or worse.
