At the end of August, we clean the house of everything that has accumulated during the summer. Check out our handy list of household chores to do.

We often hear about spring and Christmas cleaning, but a more thorough cleaning of the house is also appropriate at the end of summer. This cleaning is essential to organize certain aspects of the house before resuming daily life. Keep this list handy and get to work!

Many think that windows should be cleaned once a year, in the spring. However, the most zealous cleaners do it twice, in spring and in late summer. If your windows weren’t washed in the spring, it’s time to do it now. You can wash the windows until October, before the first bad weather.

Late summer is the best time to wash windows because the blazing sun doesn’t dry water on the glass, making washing easier. A light rain is not a problem, quite the contrary: in cloudy weather, you can see the dirt reflected in the windows.

In the summer, many homes leave doors and windows open, allowing dust and other impurities to enter. Dust from outside easily adheres to the curtains during the summer season, so it is recommended to wash them as soon as the weather begins to cool. Luckily, the weather should be cooler this weekend.

In some homes, it is customary to put the rugs away during the summer, especially in families with children who walk barefoot both indoors and outdoors. When floors start to cool and rugs are taken out of storage, it is important to check that they are clean before putting them back in place.

It is recommended to clean dust accumulated at height throughout the year, especially in the kitchen where greasy dust easily adheres to surfaces. But at the end of summer, it is especially recommended to do this for the same reasons as washing the curtains.
