The throw of The Crown has admitted they are concerned about the way the British royal family feels about the Netflix show, but do they tune in?
Season 1 of The Crown started streaming on Netflix at 2016 and starred Claire Foy as the queen as well as Matt Smith as Prince Philip.
“I’d hate the notion of it,” Foy told Town & Country in 2017 concerning the monarch tuning into the play. “When you’re playing a real person, you can’t wish to be ghoulish. I don’t want to pick apart a man. I would like to devise someone. So, I would hate for her to watch it and believe I overdramatized anything.”
Vanessa Kirby, who played Princess Margaret about the show’s first two seasons, also maintained a friend of hers overheard Eugenie talking about the show at a celebration in 2017.
“A friend of mine was at a party and didn’t know anyone, so that he sidled up for this group who were speaking about The Crown,” Kirby told Harper’s Bazaar. “One girl said,’Well, my granny watches it really enjoys it’ It gradually dawned on him that the girl was Eugenie and her granny was the queen.”
While the queen herself hasn’t publicly spoken about The Crown, U.K. administration’s Culture Secretary, Oliver Dowden, pleaded with all the streaming agency to add a”disclaimer” to the show in 2020. Netflix, however, disagreed.
“We’ve always presented The Crown as a play — and we have every confidence our associates understand it’s a work of fiction that is broadly based on historic events,” the streaming agency said in a statement. “As a consequence, we have no programs, and see no requirement, to add a disclaimer.”
Dowden’s request came after year 4 of The Crown was released and debuted the character of the late Princess Diana, played with Elizabeth Debicki. Though the Netflix series is already renewed for seasons 6 and 5, Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal departure play won’t be dealt with on the show.
“To be clear, series 6 will not bring us any nearer to present — it will just enable us to pay the same period in greater detail,” founder Peter Morgan said in an announcement in July 2020.

It is fiction. … But it’s loosely based on the truth,” the prince said on The Late Late Show With James Corden in February 2021. “It gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle, exactly what the pressures of placing duty and service over family and what else, what could come from that. I am far more comfortable using The Crown than I’m seeing the stories written about my family, or my wife, or myself.”

The youngest daughter of Prince Andrew along with the Duchess of York confessed to watching”a few episodes” at 2017.
“It is filmed beautifully,” she advised Hello. “The music is fantastic, the story is beautiful. You feel very proud to observe it. I can’t talk for everybody, but that’s how I felt when I watched it.”

The duchess told Us only in January 2021 that she”adored” how her marriage to Andrew was depicted on the series. “I believed it was filmed beautifully. The cinematography was exceptional,” she added.
Zara and Mike Tindall
“I just got about halfway through season three, so I started watching season three final night and then I’ll catch up. “I’m quite curious to determine where they go with it because obviously, it is an age folks are interested with. It is getting to things that people know about, is not it, and also have opinions about — so that is where it gets difficult.”
He concluded:”It’s a drama, so it’s going to be made for a small drama.”
Zara, for her part, previously joked on the podcast which she wanted Jessica Biel to play with her on the display.
