On the fix. Tiger Woods is about the road to recovery after undergoing further procedures linked to a single-car crash he had been involved in earlier this week.
Per a statement released through the expert golfer’s Twitter accounts, he was moved to a different medical center for extra treatment on the morning of Thursday, February 25.
“Tiger has moved to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and received follow-up processes on his accidents this morning. The processes were powerful , and he is currently recovering and in good spirits,” the announcement said of this 45-year-old. “Tiger and his family want to thank you for the superb support and messages they’ve received within the past few days. We will not have any additional updates at this time.”
Woods was being treated for his injuries at UCLA Medical Center prior to being transferred. The California native’s group published a statement revealing that he suffered injuries to both arms, but was”alert, responsive, and regaining in his hospital room.” He and his group sent messages of thanks to doctors, medical staff and first responders.
“As previously conveyed, Tiger was included in a single-car accident earlier this morning in California. He’s undergone a lengthy surgical procedure on his lower leg and ankle after being brought to the hospital.”
Harbor-UCLA Medical Center’s chief medical officer and interim CEO Dr. Anish Mahajan released a statement detailing the scope of Woods’ injuries and the treatment he received.
“Mr. Woods suffered significant orthopedic injuries to his right lower extremity that were treated during emergency operation by orthopedic trauma specialists at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, a level 1 trauma centre,” he shared. “Comminuted open fractures involving both the upper and lower parts of the tibia and fibula bones have been stabilized by inserting a rod to the tibia. Additional injuries to the bones of the foot and ankle were coated with a combination of screws and pins. Trauma to the muscle and soft-tissue of this leg required surgical discharge of this covering of the muscles to ease pressure because of swelling”
The five-time Masters Tournament champion was taken to the hospital early on Tuesday after his SUV hit a centre median and crossed into oncoming traffic. The car hit a control and rolled several times before coming to a halt. Authorities revealed that Woods had to be removed from the car with an ax and other resources. Sheriff’s deputy Carlos Gonzales said in a press conference on Tuesday that the athlete looked”as though he had been lucid and calm” in the moment.
Sheriff Alex Villaneuva told reporters Woods’ car was traveling at”a relatively greater rate than normal” when the incident happened.
