[Updated January 12, 2023 at 10:34 a.m.] In the wake of the success of the Vikings series, broadcast in the United States on History and then on Netflix worldwide, the streaming platform is producing a spin-off series called Vikings Valhalla. This one is created by Jeb Stuart who continues here the exploration of the Viking theme started by Michael Hirst with Vikings but this time 100 years after the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons, heroes of the original series. After Vikings ended, fans can find its spin-off on Netflix. Vikings Valhalla offers to continue the experience with a series set 100 years after the events of the main series. It is therefore not necessary to have seen Vikings to enjoy Valhalla. Fans of the first series, however, will appreciate the references and nods scattered throughout the first season. The series, available to all Netflix subscribers, saw its season 1 broadcast in full on February 25, 2022. The opportunity for viewers to discover the new protagonists of the series (Leif Eriksson, his sister Freydis Eriksdotter and Prince Harald Sigurdsson) as well as the intrigues and conflicts in which they are enmeshed.
Synopsis – 100 years after the events of ‘Vikings’, tensions between the Vikings and English royalty reach a point of no return. Within the Vikings themselves, points of contention emerged between pagan and Christian beliefs. Three Vikings reveal themselves in hopes of bringing survival and glory to their people: explorer Leif Eriksson, his sister Freydis Eriksdotter, and Prince of the North Harald Sigurdsson.
Vikings: Valhalla is set 100 years after the events of the original series, Vikings. Logically, therefore, we should not find the characters of the old series. It is therefore difficult to imagine the return of Ragnar Lothbrok, especially since the character died in a pit filled with snakes. However, it is quite possible that we discover characters who are linked to Ragnar in this spin -off, failing to find the hero of the original series.
Vikings: Valhalla is a streaming-exclusive series. It is put online on the Netflix platform on February 25, 2022 for its season 1 and on January 12, 2023 for its season 2. You must therefore have a subscription to be able to discover the spin-off (but also the sequel) of Vikings in streaming legal. Being an original production of Netflix, the series should not one day be broadcast on television or be accessible on other platforms.
