Scandal at Buckingham Palace in the film Scoop, starring Gillian Anderson, available on Netflix this Friday, April 5. Information about the program.

The timing is not ideal for Buckingham Palace which already has to manage the absence of King Charles and his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton, both of whom are being treated for cancer. This Friday, April 5, 2024, the British Crown’s communications will also have to deal with the new Netflix film which looks at the links between Prince Andrew, the king’s brother, and the Epstein affair. The film is adapted from the autobiographical work Scoops: Behind the scenes of the BBC’s most shocking interview with Sam McAlister, former producer of the show Newsnight.

She recounts how the team of the BBC program obtained a memorable (and very real) interview with Prince Andrew, accused of being involved in the Epstein affair, a television interview which lastingly damaged his image in public opinion. The adaptation is directed by Philip Martin who worked on English series such as Inspector Wallander, Hercule Poirot and Tunnel. Regarding the casting, the main role of the journalist is played by Gillian Anderson (X-Files, Sex Education) and Prince Andrew is played by Rufus Sewell (The Pillars of the Earth, The Man in the High Castle). Alongside them: Billie Piper (Doctor Who, Penny Dreadful), Keeley Hawes (MI-5) and Connor Swindells (Adam in Sex Education), among others.

The impressive journalistic work that led to Prince Andrew’s sensational interview on BBC’s Newsnight. From the tension of negotiations between producer Sam McAlister and Buckingham Palace to journalist Emily Maitlis’ standoff with the prince.
