TV-tip that takes you on holiday

27. september, in good time before the u.s. presidential election, comes a dramaserie that can give Donald Trump a headache. Or at least want to post a couple of tweets.

Miniserien “The Comey Rule” the previous presidential election in 2016. It is based on the book of James Comey, “A Higher Loyalty”, which created uproar in the U.S. when it came out in april 2018.

A mere year earlier had Trump fired Comey as FBI chief, after the latter had led the so-called Russia-the investigation – that is to say, the investigation of possible Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Dagbladet reviewer called Comeys book “a personal showdown with the president which gave him”. In connection with the launch stated the writer that Trump was “morally unfit to be president”, and that he treats women as “cuts of meat”. Later the same spring he wrote an article in the New York Times, where he claimed that the president “eat the soul” of its employees. Trump has on his page called Comey “slimål”, “lekkasjemaker” and “lies”, as well as “the worst FBI director in history”.

In the new tv series, which must be submitted on the american channel Showtime, has Jeff Daniels starring as James Comey. Daniels has previously played special agent of the FBI John O’neill in the series “The Looming Tower”, about 9/11, and is also known from the hovedroller in series like “The Newsroom” and “Godless”.

– Toned down Trump

“The Comey Rule” also has several star name on the list, first and foremost, irish Brendan Gleeson, who plays the Donald Trump. Teaser-trailer which was released a few days ago (see above) suggests that he has worked extensively both with the weld, and speech – just listen how he pronounces “let’s take a picture”.

Director and screenwriter Billy Ray claims, however, the face of Vanity Fair that they have toned down a few of the most characteristic aspects of the president’s outer, as an attempt to “play fair” and avoid making him a tegnefilmfigur.

In the other roles we find Kingsley Ben-Adir as Barack Obama, as well as Holly Hunter (“The Piano”, “Succession”), Michael Kelly (“House of Cards”), Jennifer Ehle (“Pride and prejudice”, “The Looming Tower”) and ^ the london premiere of Chaplin (“Game of Thrones”). Director Ray is even known for their work on films like “Captain Phillips,” “The Hunger Games” and “Terminator: Dark Fate”, as well as the political dramaserien “State of Play”.

In the interview with Vanity Fair, says Ray, that this is the very first non-satirical dramaportrettet of Trump.

“no Matter which side you are on, so you know only half the story”, claim the new teasertraileren.

Billy Ray is sure that “all” will find something to hate by miniserien, and reveals that both Gleeson and several other actors originally said no to playing the Trump, because they could not cope with all the motbøren such a role would entail. But Gleeson changed her mind finally. And it was Billy Ray himself who pushed on for that series should have premiered before the presidential election, and not after, so the original plan was.

– I think democracy and our standing in the game right now, and I want this series to be a part of the conversation, he says to Vanity Fair.

the Series shall be sent in two parts, and it is not yet known whether it will be shown in Norway. HBO Nordic have sent multiple Showtime series in the past, but tell the Newspaper that they than as long as not “The Comey Rule” høstlista.
