This new study, yet to be confirmed, it is not clear if these children are important vectors in the spread of the epidemic.

A new study on the coronavirus among children has put a doubt on what seemed to be established. While previous studies showed that children up to 15 years old are not dangerous the drivers of the epidemic of Covid-19, this one, published Thursday in the medical journal JAMA Pediatrics has been conducted on children under the age of five years, and says that they are in the nose of the quantities of SARS-CoV-2 up to 100 times higher than in older children or adults.

Identified by Science and Future, the study does not, however, specify if these children contaminate to a greater extent than other older patients with hiv. On the other hand, as noted in the site of scientific information, it has yet to be confirmed because the sample of less than 145 persons is not sufficient to draw conclusions.

However, “this clearly shows that the children have levels of virus that are similar and may be even higher than adults. It would not be surprising that they are able to ‘spread’ the virus and spread it to others,” said Taylor Heald-Sargent, a pediatrician at the hospital, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Chicago and first author of the study, quoted in Science and the Future.
