Just three hours from Paris, this region offers an idyllic beach that is still little known to French tourists.
Just a three-hour flight from Paris, still in the shadow of the most famous European tourist destinations, lies a pearl of the Adriatic little known to French travelers. They are not the first to rush there, far from it. However, this region of Europe has everything to please, a few kilometers from much better known tourist cities such as the Italian Adriatic coast and the Dalmatian coast with its famous and (too) busy Dubrovnik.
This bay and its string of islands looks like a postcard. It still offers very affordable prices compared to the rest of the Mediterranean. A few kilometers from Hvar, the Pakleni Islands archipelago, with Palmizana featured, is a still confidential destination. But be careful, in July as in August, they already welcome many small boats while there are few crowds the rest of the year. Visiting it in spring can therefore be an excellent idea.
Sveti Klement, the largest island in this archipelago, is home to Palmizana, famous for its fine sand beach, a rare treasure on a mainly rocky coast where the beaches are more pebbles, small pebbles or large rocks. This beach is distinguished not only by its fine sand but also by its setting. The beach is framed by a forest, mainly made up of pine trees which are very present on this coast but which offer rare shade on this rocky archipelago. Their shade is more than welcome on hot summer days. As a reminder, the mercury can rise very high in Croatia. The crystal clear water, the yachts moored nearby in its small marina and the views of the other islets of the Pakleni archipelago complete the idyllic picture.
Make no mistake, Palmizana is much more than just a beach. The Meneghello family, who have lived on the island for more than a century, have created a real small open-air botanical garden. There she created a unique ecosystem with tropical plants. Visitors can explore the island on foot, discovering hidden coves just a few steps from the main beach. Palmizana also has a few seaside restaurants where you can taste local specialties. Fresh fish is always on the menu!
The accessibility of Palmižana is also a strong point. With regular shuttles from the nearby bustling town of Hvar, visitors can easily combine exploring this tranquil island with the excitement of one of Croatia’s most vibrant cities.
