The 39-year-old Suits alum, who is pregnant with the couple’s second child, a baby girl, addressed a set of hot topics during the Sunday, March 7, interview, for example her rumored rift with Duchess Kate.
“If you like me, then you don’t have to hate her. And if you love her, then you do not have to despise me,” Meghan said, claiming that the”narrative” that she made Kate, 39, cry ahead of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s May 2018 nuptials was wrong. “The reverse occurred.”
In the bonus footage, Meghan provides more insight into the divide between the two duchesses, with all the prior actress claiming her negative experience with the British media isn’t similar to Kate’s issues with the media.
“It was like the Wild, Wild West. It spread like wildfire. Plus, my being American — it interpreted in a different way across the pond. So you had a noise level that was really different,” she explained in a CBS This Morning clip, noting that Harry’s family struggled to observe the difference.
Meghan explained:”I feel that the quantity of what was coming and the interest was greater because of social networking, because of the fact I was not just British, and that, regrettably, if members of his household say,’Well, this is what’s happened to us’ … And if a member of his family will comfortably say,’We’ve had to deal with some matters that are impolite,’ rude and racist aren’t similar.”
In another bonus clip, Harry, 36, echoed his wife’s opinion, noting that racism was”a huge part” of the reason the twosome opted to stop working for Queen Elizabeth II and subsequently relocated to California.
“One of the folks at [a British design ] said ,’Please don’t. Please do not do this with the media. They’ll destroy your life.’ This person is friends with a lot of the editors,” Harry remembered. “So, I said,’Just fancy by what you mean by that?’ He said,’You need to comprehend that the U.K. is quite bigoted.’ I stopped and I said,’The U.K. isn’t bigoted. The U.K. media is bigoted, especially the tabloids. Is that what you mean?’ And I said,’I totally disagree.’ But unfortunately, if the origin of the information is corrupt or racist or biased, then that filters out into the rest of society”
The royal family has yet to publicly react to Harry and Meghan’s bombshell interview.
“I believe the idea that Kate’s being dragged into this is going to be upsetting for Kate who behind the scenes has tried really difficult to become a peacemaker between William and Harry,” Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight. “She has been deeply saddened by the brothers’ falling out. Do not forget she was unbelievably close to Harry herself”

Meeting Canceled With the Queen
The prince claimed his grandmother’s staff canceled their proposed meeting with the queen in January 2020 following their exit strategies were made public.
“She said,’Yes, there’s something in my diary that I didn’t understand that I had.’ And I said,’Well, what about the rest of the week?’ And she said,’Well, that is busy today too.’ OK, I did not wish to push because I kind of knew what was happening,” Harry remembered. “When you’re head of The Business, there’s people around you that give you guidance. And what’s made me really sad is a portion of the advice has been really bad.”
Meghan on ‘Waity Katie’
Throughout the dialog about Kate, Meghan referenced the British press nickname for the Duchess of Cambridge before Kate and William wed in 2011.
“Kate was known as’Waity Katie’ waiting to marry William,” Meghan said. “While I imagine that was really hard, and that I do, I can’t picture what that felt like. This really isn’t the same.”
Harry Denies the Queen and Philip Made Race Remarks
Allegations that the royal household contested Harry and Meghan’s son Archie’s skin colour prior to his arrival 2019 made waves social websites as the interview aired. Behind-the-scenes, Harry allegedly made it very clear that it wasn’t the queen or Prince Philip who made the remark about his son’s race.
Meghan on Privacy
In a different bonus clip, Meghan denied she and Harry ever said they wanted complete privacy post-royal exit. She noted that the pair feel as though they deserve a”fundamental right to privacy” in their daily life.
While Meghan noted she”lost” her daddy during Sunday’s broadcast, she answered more specific questions regarding her estranged father, Thomas Markle, and half-sister Samantha Markle in bonus movies.
“There was this obsession about anything within my world, including tracking down my parents. And I did whatever I could to protect both of them in that media frenzy,” Meghan said. “But for over a year, the U.K. tabloids were attempting to find my dad, offering individuals so much money to attempt and locate his address. After they did, I recall being told, there was a massive headline, like,’We found him!’ Or’We’ve got him! ”’
While discussing Thomas’ choice to team up with the paparazzi ahead of the royal wedding 2018, Meghan stated,”We phoned my father, and I asked himand he said,’No, absolutely not.’ I mentioned, you knowthe establishment has never intervened for anything for us, but they can try to go in and kill this narrative. But should they do this once, we’re not going to be able to use the exact same leverage to safeguard our children one day. … I said,’We won’t have the ability to guard our own children one day.’ I said,’I just need you to inform me. If you tell me the truth, we can assist. And he was not capable to do this.”
Meghan added that her mum, Doria Ragland, was able to deal with the stress better.
“Everybody has accountability. They hunted my mother down. “She’s remained in quiet dignity for a long time watching me go through this.”
