President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Sean Duffy to be the Transportation Secretary in his upcoming administration. Trump praised Duffy as a respected public servant with the necessary expertise to oversee the transportation department, which handles various systems like pipelines, railroads, cars, trucks, airlines, mass transit, and highway funding.

Duffy previously served as a Republican congressman from 2011 to 2019, stepping down in 2019 to care for his daughter, who was born with a birth defect. During his time in Congress, Duffy was known for his conservative stances on fiscal policy, healthcare, and gun rights. He was a strong critic of the Affordable Care Act and advocated for lower taxes and reduced government spending.

Aside from his political career, Duffy is also an attorney and former prosecutor, having earned his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. Before entering politics, he served as a district attorney in Ashland County, Wisconsin.

Interestingly, Duffy gained national recognition as a cast member on MTV’s The Real World: Boston in 1997. His appearance on the show helped raise his public profile, eventually leading him to pursue a career in law and politics. Duffy’s wife, Rachel Campos-Duffy, is also a reality TV personality and former contestant on The Bachelor, whom he met on the set of MTV’s Road Rules: All Stars in 1998. The couple has nine children.

Furthermore, Duffy is an author, co-writing a book titled “More Than Just Making It: Hope for the American Family,” which discusses the challenges of raising a family in today’s economic climate based on his own experiences.

In 2020, Duffy became a Fox News contributor and co-hosted The Bottom Line on Fox Business starting in 2023. However, he recently left the network, according to a Fox spokeswoman. Duffy also worked as a political commentator for CNN in 2019.

With his diverse background in law, politics, reality TV, and media, Sean Duffy brings a unique perspective to the role of Transportation Secretary, poised to tackle the challenges facing the nation’s transportation systems and infrastructure.
