Talking about the prize money, it seems like the winner’s purse has been on the rise in recent years. In 2023, Newgarden took home $3.666 million for his win, and that number went up to $4.288 million in 2024. If he manages to win again, he might get a little extra cash as a repeat winner bonus. Organizers usually keep the purse details under wraps until after the race, but there’s a good chance that Newgarden might end up with a slightly bigger bag of cash compared to the others. All drivers can expect at least $3.8 million, assuming there are no changes from last year and no rollover bonuses. Helio Castroneves held the record for the biggest prize money in 2009 with $3.048 million, but Ericsson broke that record in 2022 with $3.1 million before Newgarden’s winnings came into play.
