The British singer and actor, who was a member of S Club 7, was found at his home and the reason for his death is unknown. Police have confirmed that he did not die in suspicious circumstances, reports The Guardian. The group published a statement on Friday, April 7, in which its members say they are “devastated” by the death of their “brother Paul”. “There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so blessed to have him in our lives and we are grateful for the amazing memories we have.” he writes in the release.
The band, which has had four UK number one songs including Don’t Stop Movin’ and Bring It All Back, announced in February 2023 that it would be reforming to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Seven-member British pop group S Club 7 was formed in 1998 by former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller. Paul Cattermole left the band in 2002 to form a metal band, called Skua, reports The Guardian. The group S Club 7 had reformed in 2015 for a tour and that of 2023 was scheduled for October.
Paul Cattermole had encountered some difficulties after the success of the group, with money problems on which he had confided. From 2001 to 2006, he was in a relationship with Hannah Spearritt, also a member of S Club 7. Paul Cattermole was photographed walking outside in good spirits on Wednesday April 5, the day before his death, according to photos published by the Daily Mail.
