According to the scientific Council, “it is critical to develop a strategy national immunisation” to be ready as soon as a vaccine becomes available.

The possibility that a vaccine against the Covid-19 can be available and administered to millions of people, particularly health professionals, must be prepared as early as now, according to the Scientific Council. Many trials are ongoing, and although the use of a vaccine will be subject to the “uncertainties and unknown scientists (effectiveness, availability in the medium or long term, type of vaccines…), it is now crucial to develop a strategy national immunisation” to integrate it effectively in the fight against the epidemic, as soon as it becomes available, according to the opinion of the Council, released this Friday.

The government, according to the nature of the vaccine or vaccines available, will need to determine “who to vaccinate and how,” stressed the opinion that advocates of involving citizens in this process of preparation, in order not to renew the failure of the anti-influenzal vaccination of 2009.

Targeting of priority populations

The Council rejects the idea of”compulsory vaccination”, calling the vaccination “organized”.
