About 72 000 consultations have taken place in one year with a gp for a reason related to bed bugs, representing an incidence rate of 109 consultations per 100 000 population, says the ministry of Solidarity and of Health in a press release.

Impact on working life, family or social

According to the regions, this incidence rate diverges. The most affected remain the Auvergne, Rhône-Alpes and PACA, respectively, 216 and 145 consultations per 100 000 inhabitants. The least affected by bed bugs, the Country of the Loire and the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

Among the most frequent reasons of consultation, is the presence of skin lesions (98%), but also the degradation of the state of psychological health. In fact, 39% of patients who have consulted suffered from insomnia and 39% believed that the infestation had an effect on their lives, professional, family or social.

against this backdrop, the Directorate-general of health (DGS) and the Directorate general for risk prevention (DGPR) will enter the national Agency of sanitary safety of food, environment and labour (Anses) to communicate to the French recommendations on the methods that are effective and sustainable fight against bed bugs.
