Two minors were placed in police custody on Friday after the attack, on Thursday evening, a driver. An investigation is underway.

Two minors of 16 years old were in custody Friday after the assault the previous evening in Dijon of a driver of a tram who asked to wear the mask of protection against the coronavirus, according to several sources. The police custody of two minors was lifted and the preliminary investigation extended, in order to establish more precisely the responsibilities of this fight.

“The driver came out of his cabin. He recalled the instructions given by the wearing of masks compulsory for travellers. There have been verbal exchanges, and then trade blows. He was punched in the face, nose bloodied,” said Frédéric Pissot, delegate CGT of the local transport network Divia.

following the incident, two minors of 16 years were detained in police custody in the morning but the measure was lifted at the end of the day, the hearings revealing that “the facts are more complicated than what has been indicated previously,” said public prosecutor Eric Mathais, in a press release. “It is necessary to continue the investigations in the preliminary investigation, to determine as precisely as possible the exact circumstances and responsibilities”, he adds.

reciprocal Violence

According to the prosecutor, the hearings and the “video image” “to understand” the employee of Divia had recently left his service and borrowed, as a passenger, the tram, still wearing his polo to work, when he directed two miners without masks to putting on a, as required by the regulation. “One obtempérait, the other indicated not to have mask”, according to the press release of the prosecutor.

The employee Divia asked him then to leave the tram, what he has done. “The employee Divia claims to have then heard of the insults, or even threats, what challenges the young man. The employee went out to his tour of the tram” and an altercation ensued, with reciprocal violence between the employee and the minor while his friend intervened in the brawl, said the release.

Injured, the employee Divia had an ITT (total incapacity of work) of five days, and the young man, without a criminal record, four. “A decision about the direction this record will take place after further investigations,” concludes the press release of the prosecutor.
