An association franco-tunisian has asked Emmanuel Macron as the ashes of the advocate and figure in feminist Gisèle Halimi were transferred to the Panthéon in Paris.
“Because of the Great Women, the Fatherland (is) grateful, we call on you, Mr president of the Republic, to examine the possibility of bringing the ashes of Gisèle Halimi at the Pantheon, request of the Association for the promotion of cooperation and friendship between France and Tunisia, in reference to the inscription on the pediment of the monument.
In this letter the association hopes that “the imprint of this great woman, this” be “recorded forever in our hearts and in the History of France”.

Born in La Goulette, near Tunis, Gisèle Halimi, a tireless fighter for the cause of women and the right to abortion and the figure of the cause against british rule, died on 28 July in Paris, at the age of 93 years.
“With Gisèle Halimi disappears one of the great figures of the struggle for freedom and feminism. His heart was red, white and blue but red also had the white disc and the red crescent surrounding a five-pointed star,” wrote the association in reference to the flags of the two countries.
Located in the heart of Paris, the Pantheon, welcomes the heroes of the History of France. The last woman to enter was Simone Veil in 2018, the fifth only to be buried.
