It appears that magic wasn’t all there was during Harry Potter movies.
The cast opened up about their on-set crushes during filming for the HBO Max’s reunion special, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts
Emma Watson spoke out about her “falling in Love” with Tom Felton as a child, but Daniel Radcliffe talked candidly about his crush on Helena Bonham Carter.
Radcliffe read Carter a note during filming, and the two of them sat down together.
Radcliffe opened the letter with “Dear HBC” “It was a pleasure to be your costar and coaster in that I always ended-up holding your coffee.”
Radcliffe laughed out loud at the rest of Carter’s clever pun as they joked. Carter encouraged Radcliffe to keep going.
Carter stated, “You can share,” Radcliffe replied, “I can.” This is something I can do right now.
He continued, “I do love your,” he said. “And I wish I was born 10 years earlier, I might have [had] the chance.” Many thanks and love for being so cool.
Radcliffe also revealed his crush on Carter during the special. He also said that some of his first girlfriends, and his first kisses, were through Harry Potter.
Radcliffe stated during the special that “Everything in my life is connected with Harry Potter.” “My first kiss was connected to someone here. These were my first girlfriends. It all spirals out of the part set somewhere.”
Radcliffe does not name names but it seems that many cast members were in relationships while filming the movies, particularly Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which Radcliffe claimed was “peak hormone.”
Matthew Lewis stated that there were crushes, and people went out with one another and then broke up like in school. It was the exact same environment, but it was in a Defence Against the Dark Arts class.
Radcliffe said he would also ask Watson for advice on dating, such as “prepping and coaching” one another in how to respond to texts.
