Johnson was the first to make his franchise debut in “Fast Five,” a box-office hit that came out in 2011, and he has since appeared in three sequels. He claimed that he argued with unnamed male co stars during filming of 2017’s “Fate of the Furious” in 2016, sending fans into a frenzy about his future with the global phenomenon.
Johnson stated to CNN that he had spoken privately with Universal Pictures partners about his decision, and that they were supportive of the solution. He was also disappointed to see the conversation return to social media.

Johnson, a former wrestler and star of “Red Notice” said that he is confident in the “Fast Universe” and its ability to deliver for the audience. He also wished his co-stars and crew members the best of luck in the future.
Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions has begun work on a sequel to “Hobbs & Shaw”. The 10th “Fast & Furious,” which is slated for release May 2023, will be directed and produced by Justin Lin. Lin was also responsible for the second through sixth movies as well as 2021’s pandemic success “F9: The Fast Saga”. Diesel and “Fast” veterans Tyrese Gibson and Michelle Rodriguez are expected to return.
Diesel representatives did not respond to The Times’ request Thursday for comment.
