The event series which looks back on the story of Bernard Tapie is released this Wednesday, September 13 on Netflix. But from what time can you discover all seven episodes?

This is one of the event series for the month of September. “Tapie” comes out this Wednesday, September 13 on Netflix. In this seven-episode mini-series, Laurent Lafitte plays Bernard Tapie, a French businessman and former politician whose career has been marred by several legal cases. If the existence of this series has been criticized by those close to Bernard Tapie, it is indeed being released this Wednesday from 9:01 a.m. on the streaming platform.

The series “Tapie” has a certain ambition: to summarize in just seven episodes the 1001 lives of Bernard Tapie, who was in turn a businessman, a politician but also a television presenter and boss of OM, before be affected by several legal cases. In the casting, Laurent Lafitte blends into the title role (and the resemblance is sometimes astonishing in the promotional images), and plays opposite Joséphine Japy (Dominique Tapie), Sylvain Jouret, Camille Chamoux and Fabrice Luchini.

Even before its release, the “Tapie” series was at the heart of the controversy. Bernard Tapie, who died on October 3, 2021, expressed, during his lifetime, his disagreement with such a project. “Doing it without asking for my agreement in principle is not very good. There are things we don’t do. Having documentaries is something else, but borrowing my name, it’s a bit heavy”, he declared in the columns of Var Matin, in 2021. Tristan Séguéla, screenwriter and director of the series, would have replied to him that his agreement was not necessary, also refusing that his son be associated with the project.

When promoting the series on social networks, Netflix notably described Bernard Tapie as a “scammer”, before removing his terms from its advertising campaigns. Here again, the Tapie family explicitly expressed their disagreement. Her daughter, Sophie Tapie, took to social networks to denounce the series: “There are no limits to disrespect,” she wrote. Laurent Lafitte wanted to respond to the criticism, saying that the family “cannot criticize […] because they have not yet seen” the series.
