The passenger who was six months pregnant during the accident which involved Pierre Palmade, and who lost her baby, was released from the hospital on Tuesday, February 21.
[Updated February 21, 2023 at 11:45 p.m.] Seriously injured on Friday February 10 when her brother-in-law’s car, in which she was traveling with her 6-year-old nephew, was hit by comedian Pierre Palmade’s vehicle , the passenger was released from the hospital on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, reports BFM TV. Six months pregnant at the time of the accident, she was rushed to hospital where a caesarean section was performed immediately after. Unfortunately, her granddaughter did not survive. “She is devastated, she is devastated by what happened to her,” her lawyer, Me Mourad Battikh, said on February 14. When she arrived at the hospital on February 10, the passenger had multiple broken ribs, a sprained neck. An emergency caesarean was therefore decided, although the delivery date was initially scheduled for May.
One of the seriously injured in the accident involving Pierre Palmade is a 6-year-old boy, treated at Necker Hospital in Paris. Six days after the tragedy, the child came out of a coma on Thursday February 16, according to information from BFM TV. According to the family lawyer, Me Mourad Battikh, the boy would have a fractured jaw and would be disfigured. According to BFM TV, the child should also never be able to eat and speak as before. He would also suffer from dizziness and would still be in shock.
The driver, who is also the father of the 6-year-old, has had seven surgeries since the crash. The man would suffer, still according to the continuous news channel, from multiple fractures and his left foot would be damaged to the point that the doctors estimate, at this stage, that he will have great difficulty in walking again. In detail, BFM TV reported on Tuesday, February 21, that the larynx was crushed and that his vital organs were “seriously affected”.
At a press conference given by the lawyer on Tuesday, February 14, more details on the three injured had been delivered. The driver, father of three children, was accompanying his sister-in-law to her home when the accident occurred. His lawyer insisted that his clients respected road safety rules and in particular had their seat belts fastened.
Following this tragedy, the prosecutor decided to reclassify the investigation as homicide and unintentional injuries by driver resulting in total incapacity for more than three months. The qualification of the case as manslaughter will however depend on a major element: whether the fetus was born alive or not. According to the victims’ lawyer, there were no pregnancy difficulties before the accident. “From the information we have, the child was born alive, but this remains to be confirmed according to experts and autopsies.”
Master Mourad Battikh clarified that the family is waiting for “Mr. Palmade to be placed in police custody as quickly as possible, for him to be brought before an investigating magistrate, for the two people who were in the car at the time of the events to surrender, explain themselves on that evening, and that justice be done. Obviously, they want that the notoriety of Mr. Palmade does not influence either a media point of view or a judicial point of view.
For his part, Pierre Palmade was released from the intensive care unit. According to information from BFM TV, he was transferred to the digestive surgery department and placed under psychological control. In a statement sent to AFP, the comedian’s sister revealed that he “realizes the horror of what happened, of what he caused. He is devastated, he is ashamed”. “Pierre asks forgiveness” from the victims “from the depths of his soul”. “We have taken note of the press release made by Pierre Palmade’s lawyer, reacted Mourad Battik, lawyer for the three injured, at a press conference. We would nevertheless like to remind you firmly and unequivocally that the only victims in this case are my clients”.
The lawyer for the three injured also recalled that his clients were “insensitive” to the humorist’s apologies and remains “extremely attentive to the judicial response given” to this case. “For the moment, we are not at all at the stage of forgiveness”, he insists. Pierre Palmade has not yet been interviewed, since it was estimated that his state of health did not allow the lengthy hearing necessary for the investigators.
It was on the evening of Friday February 10 that an accident took place on a departmental road in Seine-et-Marne not far from Dammarie-lès-Lys. At the wheel of a Peugeot 3008, the actor Pierre Palmade had to be extricated from the vehicle. It was established that he was driving under the influence of psychotropic drugs. Two passengers in the vehicle fled and are, for the time being, called to go to the nearest police station or gendarmerie to help the investigation. Several victims are to be deplored in the vehicles involved in the accident. A pregnant woman over 6 months lost her baby after the accident. His brother-in-law, also present during the accident, had to be operated on several times. Finally, a six-year-old child is still considered in serious condition.
