WEDNESDAY. Season 2 of “Wednesday” is currently in the works on Netflix. Jenna Ortega has announced several welcome changes for this sequel.

New adventures await the eldest of the Addams family. And fans of Wednesday should be prepared for some change for Season 2. Actress and now Netflix’s co-producer Jenna Ortega announced a new direction for future episodes: “We’ve decided to lean a little more on the horrific aspect of the series, she explained to Variety. Because it is a light series, with vampires, werewolves and superpowers, we do not want taking ourselves too seriously. We’re dropping any love interest for Wednesday, which is really great.”

For the moment, we do not know the date of the return of Wednesday for a season 2. However, it does not seem incongruous to have to wait at least until 2024 before seeing new episodes. This sequel should focus on the Wednesday Addams stalker, whose presence was teased at the end of season 1. In addition, showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar announced to The Hollywood Reporter that they wanted to explore even more the anti-heroine’s relationship with her friend Enid but also with her mother, Morticia, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Wednesday Season 2 is coming to Netflix soon, no release date has been announced for the sequel. With the Hollywood Reporter at the end of December 2022, the two showrunners gave more details on the intrigues that they wanted to develop in season 2 of Wednesday. “We want to explore and complexify [character] relationships in the future.” The focus should be more on the friendship between Wednesday and Enid, but also the relationship between the eldest of the Addams and her mother, Morticia, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones, who is now aware of her daughter’s power.

Wednesday was expected at the turn, but Tim Burton managed to seduce critics who praise the eight episodes available on the streaming platform. Allociné “adored […] this series connected to 10,000 volts, which keeps changing form and genre”. Fantasy, horror, teen drama, thriller, there’s something for everyone. For Télérama, this “teenage horror series seeks to make the big generational gap, and does it quite well”. For its part, Télé Loisirs salutes “a show bringing together all the codes of teen drama […] but we do find the themes dear to the filmmaker”.

The critics are also formal on the aesthetics of the Wednesday series, but also on the interpretation of the actors. Special mention to Jenna Ortega in the title role: “her investment is up to the character” for the media specializing in TV news, when Ouest-France believes that she “brilliantly carries the series on her shoulders”. For the regional daily, “Netflix signs a nice shot with this new version of Wednesday, which will satisfy young and old”. Remember, however, that the series is not recommended for children under 13 years old.

Synopsis – Wednesday Addams is now a student at Nevermore Academy. As she learns to master her psychic powers, she must foil a series of monstrous murders that terrorize the city, and solve the mystery that her parents were embroiled in 25 years ago.

Wednesday is one of Netflix’s streaming events. This series directed by Tim Burton brings the famous Addams family back to life, with Wednesday, the eldest played by Jenna Ortega, as the heroine. The first season, consisting of eight episodes, is released on Netflix on November 23, 2022. For the moment, it is not known when season 2 will be released.

Before Jenna Ortega, it was Christina Ricci who played Wednesday Addams in Barry Sonnenfeld’s 1991 film “The Addams Family”. Fans are therefore naturally wondering if the actress is making her return to the Netflix series. Indeed, Christina Ricci makes an appearance in Wednesday, but not as the older Wednesday Addams: she plays Marilyn Thornhill.

Wednesday is a series to see exclusively in streaming: it is Netflix which is in charge of broadcasting this sequel to The Addams Family. It is therefore enough to have an account on the platform to discover the series produced by Tim Burton on smartphone, tablets, computer, console or Smart TV.
