This summer, VOD platforms are expanding their offer, in particular with films that marked the start of 2020. We take stock of the films available on VOD in August and their release dates.

[Updated July 31, 2020 at 3:19 p.m.] Cinemas have reopened in France and cinema outings have resumed. But if you ever want to do catch-up sessions, it’s quite possible via the VOD platforms available in France. For a fee, you can rent or even buy a movie and watch it online. In this month of August 2020, many releases are planned, including notable films from the beginning of the year. We think for example of the thriller Invisible Man with Elizabeth Moss. On the French film side, we also recommend the biopic dedicated to Charles De Gaulle and camped by Lambert Wilson as well as La Bonne Epouse with Juliette Binoche. Note that some of these films are sometimes showing up in cinemas this summer, so you can also enjoy them in theaters!

How does VOD work? In VOD (or video on demand), the films are made available on various digital purchase or video on demand rental platforms such as Rakuten TV, iTunes, Google Play, Canal VOD, MyTF1 VOD, Orange VOD or even the PlayStation Store. These platforms offer either the digital purchase of these films that you will therefore own, or the rental of these same films in various formats (SD, HD or even 4K), all for variable prices. And if you’re more of the type to have your movies in disc format in your library, you can find our article on Current DVD and Blu-ray Releases.
