The screenwriter, 61, delivered a message to the bullies who left her son’s life a misery growing up. “This goes out into the bully punks at Camp WTF who made life miserable for a specific cabin-mate back at the summer of’96 — only because he was different,” Divine tweeted Saturday.

“Enjoy this, best Mum tweet of time,” one fan commented. “You might have waited 25 years for this moment but I’ve no doubt you’d faith in him from the get go and he’s been making you proud well before now. Great always comes good.”

“As a fellow Mama Bear, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!” Another responded. “Cannot wait to watch your amazing son tonight on SNL! Thank you to both of you for inspiring the LGBTQ community together with all the awesome examples you set!”

Levy, 37, retweeted Divine’s message, only writing”Mom” and a black heart. His father, Eugene Levy, had shared his excitement over his only son’s SNL gig last month, retweeting Dan’s announcement and composing,”That’s my boy!!

It is not the first time Divine has given her son a public shout-out. Back in April 2020, she shared with a similar fierce message as the series finale of Schitt’s Creek aired.

“Now I regret each and every second of fear back into the uninformed 80’s-wondering just how the planet was about to treat my colorful little boy who loved to twirl,” she tweeted at that moment. “Little did I know he was going to kick that old planet’s ass to the curb and make a brand new one.”

“This. Love you, mother,” that the Happiest Season celebrity wrote in reaction.

That same month, Dan got emotional during a meeting on the Late Late Show With James Corden as he recalled his mother’s opinion.

“I was a complete mess. It completely killed me. I had been teetering on the verge of being OK,” he told James Corden after the British bunch read Divine’s tweet. “It was the previous moment. I had been feeling a lot of emotions, I had been attempting to help keep them in check. And my mother tweeted that and that I read it and completely fell apart. Had just a solid cry. It has been a lot of tears, which I do not think are a bad thing, but it was thick.”

Calling it”pretty huge,” Dan added,”I think for her to say that so publicly, I can only assume that it meant a lot to a lot of people too, because that is the power of service and that’s the power of encouragement and acceptance.”

“I think there is so much anxiety associated yet to the day with parents considering their queer kids and wondering whether they are likely to turn out OK,” he continued. “For her to sort of state and winner me in that type of way, it is quite lovely. And superbly written, might I add.”

Saturday Night Live with Dan Levy hosting and Phoebe Bridgers as the musical guest airs on NBC on Saturday, February 6, at 11:30 p.m. ET.
