An Ipsos poll for the Foundation VINCI Autoroutes reveals that 5 % of French people surveyed admit they have already thrown away or lost a mask on a public road.
“Hold you” is the slogan of an awareness campaign launched by Vinci Autoroutes addressed to those drivers who throw their waste out the window of their car.
According to a poll by Ipsos, commissioned by the motorway company, one French on three is affected by this incivility, which leads to the collection of 25 tons of litter each day on the edge of the highway, reports the press release published this Friday.

“Although it is down 7 points compared to 2019, this behavior has been stagnating for 2015 (30 %), and believes in the life of every day. Thus, 38 % admit that they sometimes throw waste on the public way (27 % in 2015 ; +11 points). The jet of butt, in particular, remains very common in relation to the number of smokers. And 12% of French people throw their cigarette butt out the window of their car, or more than 1 smoker 3”, adds the foundation.

“very many of Us lament the presence of waste in the public space but we are also still too many to break out of a simple and elemental : throw their waste in the trash rather than in the street, along the roads or in the nature. […] Let us take the measure, do we commit ourselves to, ” says Bernadette Moreau, general delegate of the Foundation Vinci Autoroutes, in the press release.
on the other hand, with the health crisis, the mask is often found on the sidewalk. Again, the “5 % of the French recognize that it has already happened to throw or lose a mask on a public road”.
in Order to reach motorists, the campaign is accompanied by a video clip, and the slogan : “The next bin is never very far away, hold on to you”.

To complete this survey, Ipsos interviewed, from 10 to 14 July 2020, by internet, 2 160 individuals constituting a representative sample of the French population aged from 16 to 75 years. The representativeness of each sample is assured by the method of quotas
