the Provision to reduce the klimaavtrykket not occur because the tax administration has given orders about it, but because they see it as an individual responsibility they must take, according to skattedirektør Hans Christian Holte.
– the tax administration has an important role to finance the welfare in Norway, but we also have a social responsibility. It is obvious that we must have an active relation to how we can contribute to at least do something, he says to NRK.
– What has caused you to take so specific grip?
– It comes from a personal realization that climate change is happening faster than previously expected. As a senior executive, I have greater opportunity to contribute on the job than what I have as an individual.
– Will cost us a little
With over 6,000 employees, the company has a significant klimaavtrykk on the job. This should now be reduced.
– We fly quite a lot. If we continue as we have done in years, we’ll assume that the employees will have flown approx. one and a half million miles in 2019, something that corresponds to an emission of about 3320 tons of Co?.
He says the response has been positive among the employees of the company.
It has been more positive than negative, but I notice that it actually will cost us a little to turn a development and reduce emissions.
Major goal
Bærekraftsansvarlig in arbeidsgiverorganisasjonen Seem, Camilla Gramstad, believes there is a great outpouring of how they over 21.000 member companies their implements environmental and climate protection.
– We see many with personal involvement, as the tax administration, but also many who do not understand why this concerns them. There is tension in the team, as I like to say.
– How much does it mean that the top leadership engage personal?
” It means a lot. It is clear it is much easier for the environmental and klimasjefer to get the space in styrerommene and take decisions. Businesses must start to think about how to earn money, given that we are now the targets in the Paris agreement.
What do you do to help the member companies and leaders to be more sustainable?
– Seem to be a driving force and a consultant for our members. We have conferences, industry networks, training and consulting one-to-one on how companies can take more responsibility and arm themselves for the future. Work is also the co-founder of an eco-lighthouse, where the 6000 businesses are certified by an approved miljøledersystem. So we encourage all our members to be certified as eco-lighthouses.
Gramstad is clear that the companies themselves need to find out which environment – and climate-related measures that fit best for them.
– There is no one-size-fits-all model. But all businesses can do something. One must look for win-win measures, where economics and sustainability go hand in hand.
