A spesialkamera now makes it possible to determine the quality of the fish, before the fileteres.

Everything from blodmengde, what species of fish it is, whether it has any damage after the catch, or whether the fish has been frozen and thawed can now be registered.

with the help of two lyslinjer on the assembly line see the camera on how the light is absorbed inside the fish, and from this tell whether the fish’s quality.

Such is the analysis from the camera look. Here you can see what species of fish it is, how much blood it contains and whether it has occurred damage during the harvesting.

It is Nofima that stands behind the development of this technology. The company is a Norwegian matforskningsinstitutt that drives business research and development in aquaculture, fisheries and food. Researcher in Nofima, Stone-Kato Lindberg, explains that this type of technology will be able to enhance the production.

– If we know how much blood there is in the meat on the rundfisken before it goes into production, you can use it for what it is best suited to. When you know the quality of the raw material and what product you get out of it, ” says Lindberg.

Nofima is the company behind the technology. – It has previously been used for research, but now it is put to use commercially, ” says the scientist, Stone-Kato Lindberg.

With Lerøy in Swansea, the new technology is tried out.

For them is one of the biggest challenges to be able to know the quality of each single fish, when the volume is so large. Råstoffsjef in Lerøy, Ørjan Nergaard, think this type of technology will provide a greater predictability.

– Even a garva fiskekjøper will struggle to see the quality of a fish. It can look fine out the outside, but inside there may be blood or impact damage as we don’t get with us. This machine looks through the entire fish, says Nergaard.

Råstoffsjef in Lerøy, Ørjan Nergaard, believes this technology will revolutionize the industry.

the Machine to be launched for the commercial market during the late summer of 2020, and Nergaard hope that they in 1. January 2021 have a few such machines around at Lerøy their facility.

– I think this technology will revolutionize the industry. This is how we raised the quality of Norwegian fish. It is, I’m quite sure, ” says råstoffsjef in Lerøy.

Nergaard think this will be positive for all dismembered and that bunnlinja will increase both on land side and sea side.

– I think it is very positive. You get a correct neutral assessment of the raw material and you put these battles on the quayside as we often see today.
