The young athlete was shot while leaving a local basketball game on November 12 and unfortunately succumbed to his injuries the next day. Jackson-Olin High School, was found unresponsive in a vehicle with a gunshot wound and was rushed to UAB Hospital.

As he tried to leave the scene with a friend, an unknown assailant fired multiple shots at their vehicle, hitting Lomax.
