THOMAS CHISHOLM. While cook Thomas Chisholm was seriously injured in a stabbing on Sunday, the police investigation says he was targeted instead of another person.
[Updated May 16, 2022 at 6:41 p.m.] On Monday May 16, Top Chef season 12 candidate Thomas Chisholm was stabbed at the exit of the Grand Palais in the 7th arrondissement of Paris in coming out of the Taste of Paris culinary festival in which he participated. According to Le Parisien this Tuesday, May 17, the police investigation opened after the attack reports that the Franco-American leader was stabbed by mistake, instead of another target. This tragedy occurred just a few days after the death of the son of Yannick Alléno, the multi-starred French chef who regularly makes appearances in Top Chef.
At the scene of the attack, the police found a knife and identified the alleged perpetrator thanks to Thomas Chisholm who had time to give the name of his attacker. The police arrested the suspect who had fled, when he returned home around 2 a.m. crossing Gergovie in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, holding in his hands a white T-shirt stained with blood. The 19-year-old young man, unknown to the police, is taken into custody at the 7th arrondissement police station. The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation on the count of attempted voluntary homicide. According to the latest information from Le Parisien, the investigators of the police station “have acquired the certainty that this young clerk, who disputes the facts, would not be the author of the stab wound received in the back of the thigh by Thomas Chisholm”.
The young Franco-American chef was born in New York but has lived in France since the age of 14, in Perpignan, the city of origin of his mother. He discovered a passion for cooking during his ninth grade internship and, passionate about street art, designed his recipes like graphic paintings.
Thomas Chisholm began his cooking career in the restaurant of the 4-star hotel Le Vieux-Castillon in the Gard department, in the Occitanie region. His career then moved to the capital, becoming sous-chef at the Routes restaurant, then officiating at Thierry Marx’s Sur Mesure. His last experience, before opening his own restaurant, was as sous-chef de cuisine at Japanese chef Atsushi Tanaka’s restaurant AT, based in the 5th arrondissement of Paris.
He has cooked all over the world, from Australia to Chile, via Luxembourg. He has become a public figure since his appearance in Top Chef in 2021. This 30-year-old cook has amazed the Top Chef jury with his graphic creations.
