On the program of musical releases this week, rock, pop and covers.
It’s spring and like buds, musical projects are blooming. This Friday, April 5, music release day, there is still something for everyone with new records, covers and comebacks. This week, in the section of unmissable musical releases, we obviously note Pete Doherty’s Libertines, who reward us with the disc called All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade, but also with Only God Was Above Us, the new album from Vampire Weekend.
Also note the album of covers Once upon a time Polnareff, in which the singer is honored by numerous artists, including Pomme, Indochine, Voyou, Catherine Ringer and Laurent Voulzy. And finally, we end this playlist with two singles: that of Hervé and L’Impératrice. Plug in the speakers, turn up the volume, here is the playlist of this week’s releases:
The Libertines, led by Pete Doherty, release the group’s fourth album this Friday, and the first in nine years: All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade. An ambitious record of eleven tracks, including the singles released in recent weeks and which we have already talked about here: Run, Run, Run or Night of the Hunter. And a few gems, including the song Man With the Melody, highlighting the rediscovered voice of Pete Doherty.
We stay in the rock department, but from across the Atlantic this time, with Only God Was Above Us, the new record by the American group Vampire Weekend, released almost five years after the previous one, Father of the Bride. The New York indie rock trio delivers ten new tracks here and “one of their best” albums, according to American critics, notably The New Yorker.
Announced for weeks on social networks, the album of covers Once upon a time Polnareff was released this Friday, April 5. On the program, the artist’s hits covered by others, including Lettre à France by Malik Djoudi, Qui a tête grand’maman by Pomme, Dans la maison vide by Voyou, Love Me, Please Love Me by Catherine Ringer or The Laze Ball by Laurent Voulzy.
No downtime for Hervé, who releases a new single called Sémaphore and announces a next album, scheduled for next May. A melancholy guitar track recorded in England, which augurs a new musical turn, having barely recovered from his last tour for his album Interior Life.
After Me Da Igual, L’Impératrice continues to announce its next record with a new single called Danza Marilù, in collaboration with Fabiana Martone, from the Italian group Nu Genea. The new album of the group led by Flore Benguigui, which will be called Pulsar, is announced for June 7. The Empress continues her journey and will soon fly to the legendary Coachella festival, in the United States, for the second year in a row.
