Sheinelle Jones and her late husband, Uche Ojeh, had three children together before he passed away. The co-host of the “Today” show lost her partner to glioblastoma, a type of brain cancer, in May 2025. Ojeh’s death was announced by Jones’ colleagues on the NBC talk show, where they paid a heartfelt tribute to him.
The couple welcomed their first child, Kayin, in August 2009, almost two years after tying the knot. Kayin graduated from middle school in 2024 and had a proud moment when he spoke at his ceremony. He even got the chance to meet former President Joe Biden during a visit to the White House with his mom. Following in Jones’ footsteps, Kayin interviewed author Jeff Kinney on “NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt: Kids Edition” in 2021.
In the summer of 2012, Kayin became a big brother to fraternal twins, Clara and Uche. Jones opened up about raising the twins and emphasized the importance of treating them as individuals while also nurturing their bond as siblings. In 2024, Clara and Uche celebrated their 12th birthdays separately, with Clara getting her ears pierced on a fun day out with Jones. The twins had previously celebrated their 11th birthday together at New Jersey’s DreamWorks Water Park.
