The effects of the full moon would stimulate hair growth, making it even more beautiful and resistant if you cut it during this lunar phase! So, myth or reality?

Many beliefs exist around the effects of the full moon, including the belief that our hair grows faster. Some would not hesitate to cut a few inches of their hair on full moon nights to make it more vigorous and dense! In reality, the moon has no direct impact on hair growth, while it does influence the tides and, to a lesser extent, the growth and development of plants.

For millennia, humans have gardened with the moon, whether to sow, plant, prune or harvest, taking into account the ascending and descending movements of the star, its crossing of the ecliptic plane and the constellations of the zodiac. In a waxing moon, “flowers cut at this time will last longer, while they will fade faster in a waning moon”, underlines in L’Express, ClĂ©ment Gros, son of Michel Gros, author of the famous Lunar Calendar published in 1978 .

His father would have developed this same thesis for the hair: “more than the full moon, it is the position of the moon in relation to the signs of the zodiac and the planets which plays a predominant role in the health of the hair”, specifies t- he to the magazine.

While some hairdressers offer to fall for a “moon cut” while others go so far as to offer outdoor nocturnes on full moon nights, this belief actually has no scientific basis: “Hair is not branches. They don’t contain any sap or fluids. So you can’t apply these gardening tips to the hair,” says dermatologist Nina Roos, author of Healthy Skin.

So yes, the effect of the moon on the Earth, with the phenomenon of the tides, is very real, but not on our hair! Their growth is mainly influenced by factors such as our health status, diet and lifestyle.
