“I knew that if that was not the way I wanted to go, I don’t know if it would be here today with me,” Dance Moms alum, 37 said on Friday’s episode of Good Morning America.
The reality star has been transparent about her struggles with alcoholism. However, she stated that she was afraid of meeting new people and she didn’t want to go to AA meetings. On GMA, she said that the thought of being with a new group in a different way really ate her alive. “I have a lot of anxiety and I need to be able hear the stories of other people, people who are struggling with addiction and alcoholism.”
The California native shared earlier this week that she’s been thinking a lot lately about drinking again.
Burke, 43, said that she has a lot of personal stuff right now and that it makes her feel like she’s walking on a tightrope at the moment.Rene Elizondo Jr.“Therapy is not working right now.”
During this conversation, Elizondo (58), asked for her sponsorship. The dancer encouraged her attend a meeting to feel how it felt. He said, “I promise you that you will start coming and you begin hearing these other people’s stories, you get pumped the same way a Peloton instructor gets you up.”
GMA Burke said that her recent struggle to stay sober could have been caused by the fact she turned 37 in May. She explained that she felt anxious about her career and wondered what she would do. “Am I going to have a family soon?”
She also said that she used to drink before interviews and appearances on the red carpet. However, she has been able to meditate to prepare for public events. She said, “Normally I would drink prior to any major red carpet event. “I would drink before an Interview like this.”
Burke answered, “Just put more make-up on my face before I interviewed for the GMA interview.” I played with my hair. I have meditated before. All I have to do is breathe and trust that everything will be okay.
