Every so often, Britney Spears fans resurface a rumor that the pop star shot her iconic “Oops! … I Did It Again” album cover at Lenny Kravitz’s house. But, guess what? That rumor has been debunked, like, finally on the album’s 25th anniversary.
Contrary to what some die-hard fans believed, Spears did not shoot the cover at Lenny Kravitz’s house. She actually posed for the artwork at Quixote Studios in West Hollywood, Calif. Totally different location, but hey, details matter, right?
“I can confirm the album cover was not shot at Lenny’s house,” photographer Mark Seliger’s executive producer, Ruth Levy, spilled the beans exclusively to Page Six. And, like, Seliger and Kravitz are tight, even though the shoot didn’t happen at his crib. So, mystery solved, folks!

The Shoot Details Revealed
For the shoot, production designer Walter Barnett built two sets: one for the “Oops” album cover and another for its eponymous lead single, both of which Seliger photographed. It was like a whole production, you know?
Barnett, who was inspired by 1960s designs, had to do some old-school sourcing since Google Images wasn’t a thing until 2001. He upholstered a semicylindrical backdrop with gold, button-tufted artificial leather for Spears to pose in front of. Talk about attention to detail!
To add some sparkle, Barnett strung together chandelier crystals with fine wire to hang over Spears, giving the whole setup a glamorous touch. And voila, the final product was a baby-faced Britney in a brown crop top and lace-up pants, creating one of the most iconic album covers ever. So much effort for one photoshoot, right?

The Commercial Success
The album wasn’t just a hit visually; it was a commercial smash too. “Oops” became the first LP by a female artist in US history to sell a whopping 1.32 million copies in its first week. Talk about setting records!
In addition to the title track, the album gave us the hits “Lucky,” “Stronger,” and “Don’t Let Me Be the Last to Know.” Britney was on fire back then, dominating the music scene like a true pop princess.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the album, Spears released a special edition with bonus tracks and new remixes. It’s like a blast from the past with a modern twist, keeping the fans happy and nostalgic all at once. Who wouldn’t want to relive those iconic tracks with a fresh spin?
