An application from the Ministry of Justice has been available since Thursday, April 27, 2023. It is called “Justice.fr” and aims to inform the French on legal issues.

The Minister of Justice, Éric Dupond-Moretti, announced it in January: the establishment of a mobile application to “simplify the life” of citizens and “bring them closer to their justice”. It is now done. Concretely, this highlights services and information on the functioning of justice. The Keeper of the Seals presented it during the Estates General of Justice last January. The application is one of the 60 measures kept during this working meeting.

In practice, the application allows you to carry out simulations on alimony or legal aid, to geolocate yourself to be offered practical information on your court, to be offered the “Justice Point” (reception places to obtain information or help on a legal matter) the nearest or to find a lawyer quickly, among other things.

About 8,000 thematic sheets are present to find out about questions of family law, civil status, or traffic offenses for example. “Justice.fr” appears when Éric Dupond-Moretti puts forward “a digital transformation plan” for his ministry. In the columns of Ouest-France, he is confident this Thursday, April 27: “I announced the “zero paper” objective in 2027. This is the case in the administrative courts, so it is possible. Some of the magistrates rather denounce the many delays that hinder justice because of the quality of digital equipment and existing software.

The application is not yet complete, as the ministry has planned an update this fall to introduce new tools. It will then be possible to apply for a criminal record, enter and submit an application for legal aid. Then, its designers want to make it possible to file a civil party application from 2024.
