Equipment manufacturer Nike has revealed the home and away jerseys that the France team will wear during Euro 2024 with many tributes and winks.
After the reveal of the jerseys from the equipment manufacturer Adidas a few days ago and in particular the “tribute” jersey to Tintin for the Belgium team, it is Nike’s turn to unveil its 2024 jerseys. For France, this jersey will be that of the Euro in Germany but also of the Paris Games.
2024 is in fact an opportunity for the French team to celebrate forty years since its first European title. After the 1982 World Cup and the semi-final against West Germany, which has become legendary, the selection led by its number 10, Michel Platini, dominated this Euro, won in France, thanks to his “magic square” in the heart of the game, composed by Michel Platini, Jean Tigana, Alain Giresse and Luis Fernandez.
With this in mind, the American equipment manufacturer has decided to pay homage to the great eras of the French team, and in particular to the Platini generation. For the forty years of the 1984 title of the “golden generation” at the Euro, Nike has decided to bring out the rooster, XXL format, embroidered in a golden crest. In addition to this giant rooster, Nike also proposed an “electric” blue for this jersey, lighter than the outfits of the last few years of the Blues, once again in homage to the tunic of the France team at the end of the 1970s and the early 1980s.
For the away jersey, the references remain marked with the vertical stripes once again in reference to the jerseys of the 1980s. A little more novelty this time with stripes gradually changing from blue to white then to red. Finally, the home jersey features a tricolor collar, while the away jersey has a blue collar. Inside the two collars, however, the same inscription: “Our differences unite us”.
If the first images of the jerseys had leaked in recent weeks on social networks, Nike finally decided to unveil them this Sunday March 17 with an online campaign. It was notably the basketball player Victor Wembanyama who was the first to wear the jersey, before the match between San Antonio and Brooklyn on the night of Sunday to Monday in France.
For this busy year of competitions for the men’s and women’s football teams, the federation has chosen a unique jersey for all selections. This Euro jersey will therefore also be that of the women’s and men’s teams for the Paris Games.
