This Tuesday, a strike movement is organized by secondary school teachers to oppose the level groups.
The college level groups continue to mobilize teachers. Several unions are calling for a new day of strike this Tuesday to demand the pure and simple withdrawal of this reform decided by Matignon. Teachers are also demanding additional resources for public schools. The disruptions must focus on the college, even if the call for mobilization launched by the Snes-FSU, the majority organization in middle and high schools, but also the SNEP-FSU, SUD Education, the CGT éduc’action and FNEC- FP FO, is wider than the sling facing the level groups.
Many teachers fear having to organize the “sorting of students” by establishing “level groups” in mathematics and French, now renamed “groups formed according to the needs of the students”.
Demonstrations are organized in many cities in France. In Paris, the demonstration will start near the Luxembourg Gardens at 2 p.m. In the Paris region, the teaching staff of Seine-Saint-Denis are among the most opposed to this reform. They are calling for “an emergency plan” for education, a request which has been taken seriously by the government. On Friday, the Minister of National Education, Nicole Belloubet, already received nine of the twelve deputies from Seine-Saint-Denis at their request.
