“The Hell of the North” is not just for men. Paris-Roubaix also has its women’s race and the course is also in the tradition with the requirement and many cobblestones. For this third edition, the organization has once again increased the kilometers because after the 100 two years ago, the 125 last year, more than 145 kilometers await all cyclists.
For this 2023 edition, Marianne Vos is clearly one of the big favourites. Second in the first edition behind Lizzie Deignan, she had to forfeit in 2022 due to a positive Covid test. When asked, the legend of women’s cycling talks about this race. “It’s obviously a race that stands out in the calendar. The first edition was rainy and slippery. It was really special to be part of it. I was kind of lucky not to have too many problems during the race. In addition, to finish with a good result, it was obviously a great first experience. There is no other classic like Paris-Roubaix. I hope to be there on Saturday and play a role in the final.”
The women’s Paris-Roubaix will be played the day before the men’s, in this case on Saturday April 8, 2023.
The route for the 2023 edition is more or less similar to previous years except that the route has been extended by around twenty kilometres. If the Trouée d’Arenberg is not part of the race, the sectors of Mons-en-Pévèle and Carrefour de l’Arbre are on the program. In detail, 17 cobblestone sectors will be crossed around three laps of a city circuit, then a loop to the south which will pass through Haspres, Saulzoir, Montrécourt, Saint-Aubert, Villers-en-Cauchies, Avesnes-le-Sec and Noyelle-sur-Selle, before taking the direction of the Roubaix velodrome.
The race will be to follow on the antennas of Eurosport from 12:25, but also on those of France TV Sport. It will also be live on the Eurosport application.
