Victor Wembanyama attended the lottery from Nike headquarters on the Champs-Élysées, surrounded by his family, after his last regular season game played earlier in the evening. His first reaction leaves little doubt about his satisfaction at joining Tony Parker’s former franchise. It’s a moment I will always remember,” he told ESPN, just moments after Spurs were awarded the first draft pick. “I’m a team player. I will do everything to win as many matches as possible. I want to win a (champion) ring as soon as possible. Get ready (smile)!” he said.
The NBA draft will take place on June 22 in New York. The ceremony will be followed at night in France due to the time difference.
