The 2023 season will be played with 18 clubs, a decision taken a few years ago to strengthen the quality of the French Ligue 1 championship. In detail, the first day will take place on the weekend of August 12 and 13, 2023 and the 34th and last on Saturday May 18, 2024. Only one day will be scheduled during the week, Wednesday December 20, 2023 (17th), just before the winter break. The resumption will take place on the weekend of January 13 and 14, 2024. The first leg of the Ligue 1 accession play-offs will take place on Thursday, May 30, 2024, and the return match will take place on Sunday, June 2, 2024. This double confrontation will pit the 16th in Ligue 1 against the winner of the Ligue 2 playoffs.
The first meetings were unveiled this Thursday, June 29. On the menu for the first day, PSG will face Lorient, Marseille will host Reims, Lens will travel to Brest and Lyon will go to Strasbourg. Note that we know the dates of the Classico. The first leg PSG / OM will take place on September 24, for the 6th day of Ligue 1. The return match will be played in the spring, for the 27th day of the championship, on March 31, 2024. For this 2023-2024 season, Amazon Prime has obtained 80% of the TV rights for the French Ligue 1 football championship. The new broadcaster covers 8 matches per day: the Friday evening match (9 p.m.), the Saturday match after – noon (5 p.m.), the Sunday multiplex (3 p.m.), the Sunday evening match (8:45 p.m.) and the Sunday noon meeting (1 p.m.). Amazon has also created a special channel: Pass Ligue 1.
It is Canal which broadcasts the other two matches of each day at the start of the season: the Saturday evening match (9 p.m.) and the Sunday match at 5 p.m.
