A video published on social networks appears to show afghan soldiers desecrating the bodies of several taliban fighters. Kabul has launched an investigation.

The video in question, which could not be, for the moment verified by the AFP, shows a man in uniform to use an axe to reduce to a pulp the skulls and faces of what appears to be the bodies of two taliban. Other bodies are visible on these images, full of laughter, while a group of men in uniform observes the scene.

According to the taliban, the video was filmed in the province of Zabul (in the south) and shows afghan forces attack the dead bodies of the activists in a way “barbaric”.

the ministry of Defence announced that it had requested an investigation into the video that shows “what appear to be members of the security forces to act inappropriately with several corpses”. “If it is confirmed that the perpetrators are members of the ANA (afghan national army), they will be punished,” responded the ministry in a press release.

400 prisoners the taliban soon released

the desecration of The body is a recurring problem in Afghanistan, with many of the videos discovered in the past two decades, including one in 2011 showed a group of american soldiers urinating on three corpses, smeared with blood. The taliban have also been accused of desecrating the bodies of members of the afghan forces.

The incident comes at a few days of the possible opening of peace negotiations, the historical between the afghan government and the insurgents. Kabul is preparing to release 400 prisoners the taliban in view of the opening of these talks, in addition to the 5000 captive insurgents already released.
