IRELAND – FRANCE. After its big victory against the Netherlands (4-0) on Friday evening, the France team travels to Dublin tonight to face Ireland as part of the second day of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. Discover all information about this meeting.
After the demonstration last Friday at the Stade de France against the Netherlands (4-0), the Blues are back for the second day of qualifying for the European Championship 2024. In Dublin, the French team will face the Ireland fourteen years after the episode of the hand of Thierry Henry. For this meeting, Didier Deschamps expects the same performance from his players as against the Oranje as he confirmed at a press conference: “The objective is the same as against the Netherlands in a context and against a different team. I want to make the team as dangerous as possible and have the same efficiency as against the Dutch. That does not mean that I will renew it in full.” The coach of the Blues also took the opportunity to praise the Irish qualities: “Ireland will always remain in its tradition with generosity and enthusiasm. This is part of its DNA. From what I have seen recently, it use less direct play and verticality. They build more on the ground. But they will always have their public behind them. It will grow. We will not have to do less than against the Netherlands. The objective will be to bring people ahead, to be in control, to be dangerous and efficient.”
On the Irish side, Stephen Kenny can count on his young nugget, Evan Ferguson (18) who plays for Brighton in the Premier League. At a press conference, the Irish coach returned to the ties that unite the Blues to their evening opponents: “Yes, it will be a special evening. It’s a great tradition between Ireland and France over the years. There has been huge progress, the players can take inspiration from that. I think we have built this team over the last two years and I feel like the young players who have come into the team are become leaders within it themselves. It’s the evolution of the team, its growth. We’ve seen it and we’re looking forward to playing against France. There’s no doubt that we respect their exceptional achievements, but we also find it exciting.”
The kick-off of the second match of the Blues in these qualifiers for Euro 2024 is scheduled for Monday March 27 at 8:45 p.m. at Aviva Stadium in Dublin (Ireland). The Portuguese Artur Soares Dias will be the referee of the meeting.
