SMART ONE. The long Ascension weekend, with Wednesday May 8 in addition, promised numerous traffic jams on the road. They are already present this Tuesday at the end of the day.
Green, orange, red and even black, the entire palette of Bison Futé colors will be there on the occasion of the big Ascension weekend, marked by two consecutive public holidays, on Wednesday May 8 and Thursday May 9. Difficulties began on the roads on Tuesday morning, but Bison Futé was right about an increase in traffic before mid-afternoon. In the Paris region, 200 kilometers of cumulative traffic jams were observed from 4 p.m., before the expected peak and the conjunction of “work-home” journeys with those of long weekend departures.
This Tuesday, May 7 was thus a day classified red across the whole of France in the direction of departures. Bison Futé warns of the difficulties anticipated for journeys from the Paris region towards Normandy. Following a crack in the roadway, the A13 motorway remains closed to traffic between Paris and Vaucresson and motorists wishing to reach Normandy are therefore advised to take the A14, the A15 or the N12. In the provinces, many difficulties were also expected, notably on the A31 towards and from Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands, in the Rhône corridor particularly on the A7 motorway, on the Atlantic coast with the ‘A11 and A63 and from Toulouse on the A61 and A62.
For the day of Wednesday, Bison Futé sees orange in the direction of departures in France. Traffic will be heavy from the start of the morning around Paris, via the A6 and the A10 and will increase throughout the morning, also causing difficulties on the N104 and N118. It is therefore advisable to bring forward or postpone your departure. In the provinces, the agency warns of expected slowdowns on the A7, A9, A10, A13 motorways but also on the N205 which leads to the Mont-Blanc tunnel.
