police responded to the call of the trade union Alliance after the inauguration of a mural in tribute to George Floyd and Adama Traoré by the municipality of Stains.
Two hundred police officers around marched Monday in front of the prefecture in Bobigny to denounce a fresco “against racism and police violence” launched recently by the municipality of Stains (Seine-Saint-Denis).
A delegation was received by the prefect. “We will ask the prefect to solicit officially the mayor of Stains, and ask him to remove the sentence on the mural”, which represents the faces of Adama Traoré and George Floyd, said Fabien Vanhemelryck, secretary-general of the trade union Alliance.

“When you call the 17 Police secours, we don’t ask you your nationality”, adds his colleague Gregory Goupil. “By 2020 this is not acceptable to say that the police is racist, look around you,” he said, showing the police officers gathered. “The police is the reflection of the society”, he says. The trade union Alliance was in a prime time Saturday called the servants to gather in front of the mural, before changing your mind.
A mural against police violence
Performed by a collective of local artists and inaugurated Thursday in the presence of the mayor, this fresco depicts, on a blue background with clouds, the faces of George Floyd, black American asphyxiated by a white policeman during his arrest in the United States, and Adama Traoré, young black man died in July 2016 after his arrest by the gendarmes in Beaumont-sur-Oise (Val-d’oise). A sentence overlooks : “Against racism and police violence.”

In response, the committee Adama had also called to the scene of the fresco. “Today we came to defend freedom of expression […] today we see that this freedom does not exist for us, we said no,” rose up Assa Traoré, the sister of Adama also present at the inauguration.
