A doctor from syria, accused of having beaten to death an inmate in 2011 in his country, has been arrested in Germany, where the justice system plays an increasing role in the prosecution of the abuses of the regime in Damascus.
Alaa M. was arrested on June 19, in Hesse on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by an investigating judge of the German and placed in provisional detention, announced on Monday that the federal prosecutor’s office, German, in charge of all of the sensitive files.

He is accused of a “crime against humanity” on a protester tortured to death in 2011 in a dungeon of the secret services of the regime of Bashar al-Assad in Homs, the high place of the uprising against the chief of State from march 2011.
He worked as a doctor in a prison military intelligence, where he is suspected of having tortured, from October 23, 2011, a man imprisoned for having participated in a demonstration against the regime in Damascus.

“at the end of a session of torture’, he [the inmate] has a seizure, following which a fellow prisoner asked a guard to warn a doctor,” says the federal prosecutor’s office. “The accused, now as a doctor, was suddenly struck A. with a plastic pipe”, accuse-t-il. “Even after his fall, Alaa M. has continued to beat the victim and gave him a kicking. The next day, the state of health of A. has significantly deteriorated,” according to the federal prosecutor’s office.
“After that the co-detainees had requested medical care, the accused was again presented, this time accompanied by another prison doctor. All two, armed each of them with a plastic pipe, then hit A. it has weakened, which could no longer walk alone, until he lost consciousness” and died, described the package.

Alaa M. had left Syria in mid-2015 and won the Germany, as hundreds of thousands of Syrians at the time when Angela Merkel opened the country’s borders. He exercised his profession in a hospital of a spa resort. This practitioner, whose age was not specified, had been the subject in may of a joint investigation by the German weekly Der Spiegel and the chain qatari Al-Jazeera on the basis of four testimonies.
Two witnesses, who each lost a family member a victim of torture, had been formally recognized in a photo. The lawyer of the suspect has categorically denied the allegations, assuring that his client, christian, was a victim of “calumnies from among radical islamists”.

But in the investigation of the media, two fellow physicians have told, that it was touted to have operated an opponent hurt without anesthesia. It would have also sprayed alcohol on the genital area of another opponent being transported in an ambulance before setting it on fire. Another testimony was that of the blows given in October 2011 to a young man with epilepsy, forced in particular to put a shoe in his mouth.
Germany, where more than 700,000 Syrians have found refuge in nine years, was placed at the forefront of litigation against the abuses which the regime in Damascus is accused, by playing his “universal jurisdiction” in cases of this kind. It has launched in 2011 an investigation on the crimes committed in Syria, gathering of documents and testimonies on these abuses.
Two former members of the intelligence services of syria, including a former high-ranking officer, are currently on trial in Koblenz, a first judicial world. They are judged for crimes against humanity and complicity in crimes against humanity for tens of deaths in a centre of detention and torture on several thousand prisoners.

The refugees have also filed a complaint on June 18, for rape and sexual abuse in prisons of the regime in Damascus. This action is named nine senior officials in the government and intelligence services of the air force, including a former close to Bashar al-Assad, and Jamil Hassan.
