The commune of Courmayeur in the Italian Alps, has announced this Sunday, “the lifting of all measures” of security adopted to deal with the risk of collapse of a large block of the glacier de Planpincieux, where the situation is back to normal.
The latest information on the glacier having “confirmed a return to the parameters of the normal risks”, the closure of the valley of Val Ferret (below the glacier), ordered last Wednesday, was lifted, and announced the town hall in a press release. The car traffic in the small valley is again permitted, and the return home of the fifteen residents evacuated.

The threat of a collapse of the glacier “was localized and affected a small part of the territory (commune), whereas in the rest of this same territory, the valleys and the municipality of Courmayeur, the tourist activities are taking place, in an absolute normality”, stressed the mayor, regretting the passage “the tone alarmist” by some media.
