Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler are still learning how to browse their”fresh” coparenting relationship one year after their split.

“But we are only digging it the best way we know how.”

The Colorado native, who learned from her own parents’ divorce, invited former couples “not to put the kids in the center of it, no matter how mad you’re in the ex-spouse.”

Cavallari explained,”One thing that my mom was she never said anything bad about my dad. Now that I’m old, I really admire that. I want my kids to see Jay and me as a united front. He is their dad. That’s important and they have to observe that from me.”

She and the former professional soccer player, 38, called it quits at April 2020. The Laguna Beach alum wanted the athlete a happy Father’s Day two weeks later.

Cutler returned the favor on Mother’s Day, posting a sweet shot of his ex-wife using their three children — Camden, 8, Jaxon, 7, and Saylor, 5 — on Sunday, May 9.

“Some kids have all the luck,” the Indiana native composed via Instagram.

Splitting from Cutler made Cavallari”a much better mother,” she told HollywoodLife in April, explaining,”I have my kids half of the time now. So when I have them for my weekI am so incredibly present. I’m not deflected by my phone or other things. I am with them. If a person has a temper tantrum or something, I remain calm because I understand that I’m losing them in a few days.”

Court records obtained by Us Weekly in May 2020 show that the exes split custody down the middle and each have their children 182.5 days from the year. Every parent is permitted to 2 telephone calls per week and 2 FaceTime or Skype calls if another parent has custody.

During her off-weeks, the Authentic Comfort author”focus[es] on” herself. She clarified,”When I have my kids, I’ve got my children. That is it and I am not doing anything else.”
