Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was recently arrested for driving under the influence and gun possession in Tennessee. The incident occurred after a minor traffic collision between two cars in Franklin, Tenn. Cutler was charged with a first offense of driving while intoxicated, as well as possession of a handgun while under the influence, failure to exercise due care, and a violation of implied consent law.

According to a police affidavit obtained by E! News, the driver of the vehicle that Cutler allegedly rear-ended claimed that the 41-year-old tried to flee the scene after offering him $2,000 to not call law enforcement. When officers spoke with Cutler, they noted that his speech was slurred and his eyes were bloodshot. Cutler allegedly smelled of alcohol, but denied consuming any before admitting to having had “a little bit.” Despite refusing a field sobriety test, Cutler later had his blood drawn at Williamson Medical Center.

During a search of Cutler’s car, police found a rifle in the backseat and a loaded handgun in the center console. Cutler was released on $5,000 bail, and a hearing in the case was scheduled for January 16, 2025. E! News reached out to Cutler’s representative for comment but has not received a response.

Cutler shares three children with his ex-wife, Kristin Cavallari, whom he was married to from 2013 to 2022. Cavallari recently discussed the shift in their custody arrangement as she talked about her split from boyfriend Mark Estes on her podcast, Let’s Be Honest. She expressed contentment with focusing on her kids and work after a period of stress during her unhappy marriage to Cutler.

The former Laguna Beach star reflected on the toll that her marital problems took on her health, noting how she was “rail thin” and “looked like s–t” during that time. She emphasized that she feels much better now and attributed her previous appearance to the stress of being in an unhappy marriage.
