The One Chicago universe has been blessed by the TV gods. NBC renewed Dick Wolf’s Chicago Fire and Chicago Med in 2020, with three-year extensions. The fall season will see the start of season 11, season 8, and 10 for the respective shows.
“Dick Wolf has shown time and again that he makes shows viewers love,” NBC Entertainment chairman Paul Telegdy stated in a statement at the time. “NBC’s loyal viewers will be happy, excited, and proud to know that Wolf Entertainment has made an incredible deal.
Grey’s Anatomy was also renewed early, with ABC announcing January 2022 the return of the medical drama for season 19.
Creator Shonda Rimes stated in a statement that she couldn’t be happier to continue the stories of Meredith and Bailey, Richard, and all the other doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial. This is a testament to [showrunner] Krista Vernoff and the cast, crew, and all the writers who keep our audience on the edge week after week. It would not have been possible without the many generations of amazing fans who have supported Grey’s Anatomy over the years.
The medical series has been a huge success for the network over the years. However, some were surprised to see it return for season 19.
“I’ve been trying hard to convince everybody that it should end,” Pompeo said in December 2021. He has played Dr. Meredith Grey since 2005. “I feel like the super naive one who keeps asking, “But what’s our story going to be?” Everyone’s like, “Who cares Ellen?” It’s worth a gazillion dollars.
Others series are still in the pipeline. The CW’s Nancy Drew showrunners still have not received any news but hinted at what they might expect if they do get a season 4 pick up after a huge season 3 cliffhanger that left viewers wanting more.
“What’s going be fun about season four is that we’re very conscious returning to our roots. Putting Nancy back in a cemetery with her beanie, and her flashlight,” Entertainment Weekly stated in January 2022. “And the start of a new mystery which should feel a little more like the mysteries we tackled in seasons 1 and 2.
Melinda Hsu Taylor , Showrunner, said that she had her fingers crossed for a renewal.
