Kristen Bell is now looking for her next TV project. She has been a hit in comedy shows like “Veronica Mars” or “The Good Place,” and Netflix has given Bell an opportunity to try something a little darker.

The title of “The Woman in the House across the Street from the Girl in the Window”, a comedy about the psychological thriller, is so long that it can be hard to remember. It is about a wine-loving woman who witnesses the murder. This trailer gives a glimpse at the tightrope Bell must walk in order to deliver the macabre comedy.

Here’s the Netflix official synopsis: “For Anna (Kristen Bell), no day is ever the same. As she watches the world go by, Anna sits at her window with her wine and stares out at the sky. Anna begins to see the light at the end the tunnel when Tom Riley, a handsome neighbor and Samsara Yett’s adorable daughter, move in across the street. She witnesses a horrendous murder, but she didn’t know it.

The series stars Michael Ealy and Mary Holland, Shelley Hennig as well as Cameron Britton and Christina Anthony.

“The Woman in the House” is a Will Ferrell production. It’s produced by Gloria Sanchez Productions for Netflix. Marti Noxon, a writer for “Sharp Objects”, serves as a consultant producer. The show was created by Rachel Ramras, Hugh Davidson, and Larry Dorf, the Groundlings-incubated team behind the short-lived TV Land comedy “Nobodies” and Adult Swim’s “Mike Tyson Mysteries.” With that mix of talent writing for someone with Bell’s comedic timing and appeal, “The Woman in the House” could very well turn into Netflix’s newest hit.

Since “The Good Place” ended its last season in 2020, TV viewers have grown accustomed to Bell hearing them rather than seeing them. Bell voices the infamous title character on HBO Max’s “Gossip Girl,” reboot. She also sings in Amazon Prime’s animated children musical “Do, Re & Mi.”

Netflix will release “The Woman in a House Across The Street from the Girl in the Window” on January 28. Below is the trailer for the first trailer.
